I saw my first horror film at six years old, although I didn't know it was a horror film (Cat's Eye). When I was 11 I saw Day of the Triffids, and a fascination with horror that has stayed with me ever since was born. I studied film and psychology at university (don't ask me, it seemed like a good idea at the time), but quite a few years later I'm doing things quite different to them and so a horror movie blog seemed like the best way to indulge my film knowledge and love of the horror film at the same time. I don't claim to be an expert or any sort of authority on horror films or films in general; my opinions are my own and I'm really just indulging myself by posting them on the web to share with others.
Other details: I'm 30something, live in the UK with my partner and two cats, and have a shameful love of zombie movies and bad 80s and 90s horror. Currently my favourite films include the 1978 Dawn of the Dead, From Dusk Till Dawn, Versus, Profondo Rosso and Suspiria.
Right now I'm also studying Creative Writing at university, so if reviews suddenly start containing ramblings and critiques on narrative theory, plot and characterisation you know why.
Despite the blog's title, I'm actually not a big fan of so-called "torture porn" or "gorn". I just felt that the term "carnography" flowed well and was a fitting title for a horror movie blog.
I have problems watching films where animals are killed on-screen. Humans are fine; animals upset me (and thus several films I'd otherwise really want to watch are currently out of reach for me until I find a viewing partner who can tell me when to look away).
And I'll probably come up with more to add to this at a later date.
